Privacy Policy
Last updated 25 October 2026. This page explains what data the Remleaf app processes, why, and how you can control it.
In short
- Learning runs on your device, even offline. An account is optional.
- We don’t show ads and we don’t sell your data.
- Your voice is recorded only after you tap the microphone. We don’t store audio recordings.
- Before your voice or AI requests first go to a third-party AI service, the app asks your permission. You can withdraw it anytime.
- You can delete your account and its data right in the app settings.
What data we process
Account
If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive that service’s account identifier, plus your email and name if you choose to share them. We never receive your password. Signing in is only needed to sync progress across devices.
Learning data
Your words, decks, settings, and review and exercise results. Without an account they stay on your device only. With an account they sync to the Remleaf server.
Device information
For sync we store the device identifier and name, platform, app and operating system versions, and the time it last connected.
Voice
When you tap the microphone, the recording and the word you’re saying are sent through the Remleaf server to Microsoft Azure AI Speech, which scores your pronunciation. We don’t store the audio itself — only the score. The app asks your permission before the first recording is sent.
AI requests
When you generate a word set, what you enter — topics, a description or pasted text — and the set’s settings (level, type, style) are sent through the Remleaf server to DeepSeek, a language model provider, which suggests the words. The app asks your permission before the first request. Your own cards are used only on our server to leave out words you already have; they are not sent to the provider. Please don’t include personal information in descriptions or pasted text.
When you look up a word the dictionary doesn’t have yet, only that word is sent to the language model provider to write its entry. No account details are added to AI requests.
Your choices about AI
Pronunciation scoring and AI word sets can be turned off at any time in Settings → AI data sharing. With them off, nothing is sent to those providers and the rest of the app keeps working. If we change a provider, the app asks again.
Content reports
When you report a word as wrong, inappropriate or offensive, we store the report with your account identifier, the word and its explanation, so each person counts once. Words reported as offensive by several people are hidden from the dictionary and from AI word sets.
Diagnostics
If the app crashes or freezes, iOS gives the app a technical report (MetricKit): stack traces, device model, iOS and app versions. The app sends it to the Remleaf server linked to your account to find and fix the problem. It contains no learning content or audio.
Photos of word lists
When you import a word list from a photo, the text is recognised on your device. The photo is not uploaded.
Subscriptions
Premium subscriptions are bought and billed through your Apple ID. We receive only the subscription status, plan and expiry date, never your payment details. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your App Store account settings; deleting your Remleaf account doesn’t cancel them.
Why we use it
- To sync your progress and restore it on a new device.
- To score pronunciation, voice words and suggest new ones.
- To apply daily limits and protect the service from abuse.
- To find and fix bugs.
Who we share data with
Only with providers the features cannot work without:
- Apple and Google — sign-in.
- Apple — subscription purchases and crash reports.
- Microsoft Azure AI Speech — pronunciation scoring and text-to-speech.
- DeepSeek — word lookup and AI word sets (language model).
- Our hosting provider — the servers Remleaf runs on.
These providers process the data only to provide the feature and under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also disclose data when the law requires it.
Where data is processed
The Remleaf server and its providers may process data outside your country. DeepSeek processes requests on servers in the People’s Republic of China; Microsoft Azure processes them in the region we use for the service. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
How long we keep it
- Account and learning data — until you delete your account.
- Detailed learning event history — up to 2 years.
- Technical responses from the pronunciation service — up to 90 days.
- AI request logs — up to 1 year.
- Crash and diagnostic reports — up to 90 days.
- Content reports — kept to keep reported words hidden; no longer linked to you once your account is deleted.
Deleting your account
Open the app settings and choose to delete your account. This removes your learning data from the server and revokes Sign in with Apple. We may keep minimal technical records, such as daily limits already used, so they can’t be bypassed by signing up again. Data stored only on your device is removed along with the app.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, and restrict or object to its processing. Write to support@plekaty.com — we’ll reply within 30 days.
Children
Remleaf is not intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
We’ll announce significant changes in the app or on this page. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
